Cool Yet Unidentifiable Plant

Unidentifiable only because I am a plant nerd

I love to garden and I have flowers everywhere, but I'm horrible at remembering the names of any plants except very common ones such as petunias, marigolds, alyssum, snapdragons, celosia, moss rose. I think you get my point.

I did as much research as I could on the above plant, but alas, I can find nothing under native Kansas or Oklahoma wildflowers. We have several of these in one of our pastures. I thought perhaps some kind of milkweed or pod, but I'm not finding anything that looks similar when I search for that moniker.

So go ahead, throw in your two cents worth... what do YOU think this is?

  2. Hmmm, agreed... it almost has to be at least in the milkweed family. Or one would think! Hope you get the answer!

  7. It's hard to say just looking at the seed pod (it's very attractive, though). I can safely say that I haven't seen it in Bermuda! I'm sure that helps you a lot!
