Swallowtail Butterfly Caterpillar

feeding on my dill plant

Not sure which variety of swallowtail butterfly as there are approximately 550 species.  This caterpillar most closely resembles the Anise Swallowtail, or possibly the Black Swallowtail.

  7. BEAUTIFUL! I have a photo of a Swallowtail caterpillar too, but I think mine is of a different variety than yours.

  9. Wow - I had no idea caterpillars actually looked like that. I've only seen the small fuzzy ones in person. This is a beautiful shot!
