So, I was trying to get some sky photos yesterday evening, and this one ended up being my favorite. I used my gradated neutral density filter to maintain detail in the sky. Next on my wish list (my affordable wish list, not my pie-in-the-sky wish list) is a polarizer filter.
That's a former chicken coop in the lower right corner, by the tree. We have a small ground level trap door propped open and our cats use it for protection.
I think with spring approaching, I'm going to get some really good opportunities for interesting cloud formations... who knows, perhaps even a tornado!! It's one of those mixed blessings... if I do get a good photo, I hope it skirts our house!!!!! At least I can see it coming out here, with all this open land. Fingers crossed.....

That is a gorgeous shot. I need to get me some filters too! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo!! I just love the sky!!
ReplyDeleteIt's like a white explosion.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to hope you don't get to photograph a tornado. On the one hand, it certainly would be interesting (! ! ! ! ! ) but it's not something one could actually wish on you!

What a beautiful sky picture!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty picture. You should get some awesome storm shots where you live!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky photo!!! Question, though, what would a polarizer filter have done differently for this photo?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky - when I was growing up my Aunt had a chicken coop - the chickens had long left so my cousin and I had all sorts of building and repair projects going on.
ReplyDeleteHi Dot, a polarizer wouldn't have done anything for this photo, it's just one of the many things I "want" for my camera, and it just happens to be the next thing I will buy! :)
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photo!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers!

ReplyDeleteYou will officially be a Kansan if you calmly stand outside taking pictures of an approaching tornado. Extra points if you have a margarita in your hand whilst doing so. LOL
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, you should be able to get great photos if one comes close enough during daylight hours. They only move as fast as the storm, say 20-30 MPH. Plenty of time to get the shot AND take shelter. Good luck!
